It’s Me. In A Nutshell.

I’ve always been fascinated by what makes people perform at their best—what drives some to thrive under pressure while others falter. That curiosity has shaped my whole life and career.

I believe we should all be working hard and playing harder, but if you can’t find the time or are too busy to take time out then we need to chat!

I feel truly blessed to have been able to go all around the world on the proceeds of my businesses, and that’s what we want for you too.

A truly blessed life with everything in balance.

My Timeline

After I was asked “not to return” to school in the late 80’s I started work at Safeway supermarket. I wasn’t a bad lad, I just had no direction, no focus. In this superstore environment I learned one thing which would change my life forever … if you work for something you CAN achieve it.

I got promoted several times in just a few years but I still had a major itch to scratch …

When I joined the Submarine Service in 1992, I learned the true value of leadership. I watched extraordinary leaders inspire calm and purpose when the stakes were highest… and I saw the cracks that appeared when poor leadership took command.

Those experiences etched a lasting truth into me: leadership is never about command—it’s about connection, clarity, and trust.

In fact, I call my leadership method “The Abraham Method” after Paul Abraham, the most amazing and awe inspiring skipper I ever had the pleasure to go to sea with.

When I left the Navy in 2004 I was a bit “adrift” but, just like my Grandad,  knew I always wanted to start my own business. So I did some research, discovered what was in demand and started a flooring business.

Here I learned marketing, selling, communications, developing faultless SYSTEMS which produced the right result, every time. Unfortunately I thought good numbers was all I needed. Good sales = good profits, right?

I was wrong. In 2009 I went bust. Now I have studied to the nth degree to ensure it doesn’t happen to you.

Since 1991, my other constant has been martial arts. Years of training and teaching have taught me discipline, patience, and adaptability—and that real mastery lies in the balance between strength and humility.

I love that moment when someone finally “gets it”—when the lesson lands and something sparks inside them. That same spark is what I chase every day in my coaching and consulting business.

I have 7 black belts and though I’m getting on a bit now I still live and breathe it.

It just makes me, me.

So Here’s My Pitch

Time is your most valuable asset, so I promise I won’t waste yours, now or ever.

I will bring all those lessons—military precision, martial discipline, leadership knowledge and vast human insight—into my work as a coach.

My style is direct but empowering, and I totally understand that style won’t work for everyone. Not everyone is open to coaching, and not everyone will follow up on what we go through in our meetings. And that’s fine. I wish you all the best.

But for those who choose to work with me the results will be staggering.

I believe people have almost limitless potential once they’re willing to look inward and take action. My greatest reward isn’t an accolade or a title—it’s the message from a client saying, “you’ve changed how I think, lead, and live.”

Because at the heart of it all, whether on a submarine, in the dojo, or across the table from a client, my mission is the same—to help people see what they’re truly capable of, analyse the benefits and drawbacks of taking certain actions and then encouraging people to take the shot if it’s right.

Not trying something is the only way to certain failure.
